Windsor is home to the Royal Windsor Horse Show which is the UK’s largest outdoor horse show. What is even more special about the show is that it takes place within the private grounds of Windsor Castle. The show brings thousands of visitors to it and is a great event for the whole family, it doesn’t matter if you are new to horse events or a seasoned pro, this event caters to everyone and provides a wonderful day trip out.
Be advised that often you may be surprised by the Celebrities, Politicians and Royals that you can stumble across when moving from one event to another, it is a very popular event.
The Show hosts 5* international Show Jumping, which is the highest level possible, as well as 4* international dressage and 4* international Carriage Driving which past Royals have seen to participate at times. There are also national classes in jumping and this event in Windsor is one of the UK’s premier Showing events so attracts lots of participants and guests from far across the world.
On top of all the horse competitions, there are numerous other exciting displays, including the usical Ride of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The Musical Drive of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games and the Shetland Pony Grand National which is a favourite of ours 🙂
There are also lots of different fun stalls for kids and shops for adults along with many food outlets for eating times, although why not take a family picnic?
Of course we would recommend that you make a weekend trip of it and if you are looking for family accommodation get in touch with us as we have the perfect accommodation for you that will really add to your family or couples break. Check out our Windsor Accommodation here.
